How to make 'em
Grease an 8x8 baking dish (glass for fudgy brownies, metal for cakey brownies).
Preheat oven to 300°F. Add ½ cup oil* and ½ cup water to the mix. Stir until combined. The mix will be veryyy thick - like the consistency of play-doh. That's a good thing! 🧑🍳
Optionally, stir in ½ cup chocolate chips or nuts.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until center is just set. Don't overbake, for extra fudginess :o)
Let cool completely (completely - we mean it!) before slicing.
* We love avocado oil, but melted coconut oil and olive oil work too - just try to avoid EVOO because of its strong flavor profile.
For extra fudgy brownies:
Add 1 mashed banana + ⅓ cup oil + ½ cup water. Bake as normal.
About the ingredients
The only ingredients you haven't heard of are powerhouse superfoods that have been used by the Inca for millennia 🌟
Yacón is a tuber native to the Andean region of South America. It's rich in inulin, an indigestible sugar, which makes it sweet but low-calorie. It also contains prebiotic and probiotic bacteria, thought to aid with digestion and gut health.
Lúcuma is a fruit with a soft, yellow flesh nicknamed "gold of the Incas." It has been used as a traditional remedy in South America for centuries. It contains a variety of antioxidants and is also packed with vitamin C!
Maca, AKA "Peruvian ginseng," is a cruciferous vegetable. Traditionally it was used to treat respiratory conditions and rheumatic disease, but it's more popular today for its uses in improving libido and fertility. It also may help relieve the symptoms of menopause and may improve mood and energy.
